Formatting a hard drive

You must fdisk the hard drive before you can format

  1. Put in the Windows start-up disk and turn on your computer

  2. it will give you and screen that will ask you hw you want to boot your computer

  3. you'll select option 2 "with cd-rom support"

  4. type in the number of the option and then it will boot your computer

  5. it will give you information about where your cd-rom is located (it will tell you the drive letter this is something you have to remember for future use)

  6. after your computer is booted it will have an "A:\"

  7. now you'll type in "format (space) c:"

  8. it will ask you if your sure so press "Y"

  9. it may take a few minuets to format the hard drive

  10. after it has completed formatting it will ask you to insert a name for your drive so if you want a name type it now after your done press "enter" and if you don't want to put one in press "enter" and it will default to "local drive"
