Installing Windows 98, 98se, Me

 
  1. after you have formatted the hard drive it is ready for installation

  2. before you turn on you computer make sure the windows start-up disk is in the computer

  3. you will have a menu on the computer and you'll select "2 start computer with cd-rom support"

  4. type in "2" and it will take it a few minuets to boot up

  5. as the computer boots you'll see that it will tell you the drive letter for the cd-rom this is important because you'll need to know this letter to install windows from the cd

  6. once it's ready you'll have an "A:\" on the screen

  7. first you'll type in "E:\" and press "enter" (or if you cd-rom is a different drive letter than this type that letter instead of "E")

  8. now you'll see "E:\" on the screen type in "setup" and press "enter"

  9. it will first run you through a disk scan so you'll hit "enter" to continue

  10. once the disk scan is done it will run through a surface scan this isn't something that needs to be done unless you know of a former problem

  11. when it's done you'll want to press "x" not enter to exit the scan program

  12. it will automatically start the installation process

  13. the rest  you'll just follow the instructions it gives you there are just a few things you want to know

installations types

  • Normally you'll want to choose typical it will give you all of the normal things in you window: internet explorer, outlook express, system programs and the games

  • if your installing for a laptop the best installation is the protable one because it has the:  battery tools and stepping programs

  • in the custom installation you can choose the items to install
